Happiest Workplaces Around the Globe 2026 is one of the most comprehensive global studies of workplace happiness published to date. The 1,020 workplaces featured in the list were selected by evaluating 18,325 companies included in 236 workplace rankings across 23 countries through meta-analysis, the Wellbeing Index, and HR Check, and were classified by country and industry.
The report also presents the results of a study conducted with senior HR executives. Companies included in and outside the HPW list were compared in terms of their 2026 priorities, the main challenges they faced in 2025, and the strategies they used to strengthen employee happiness. Employee experience, leadership development, continuous learning, well-being, flexible working, and a culture of recognition are among the prominent themes.
The third section of the report compares the 2010–2026 stock returns of companies included in the Happiest Workplaces Around the Globe list and traded in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Canada with the relevant national benchmark indices. HPW companies generated higher cumulative returns in all five economies, while the return gap in the United States exceeded 92%.

Happiest Workplaces Around the Globe
This section presents country- and industry-based lists of companies identified as the happiest workplaces in their respective sectors across 23 countries. The lists were developed with sector-specific conditions in mind; rather than being placed in a definitive happiness ranking against one another, companies were evaluated as leading workplaces within their own industries. A total of 18,325 companies featured in 236 workplace rankings were analyzed, and 702 unique companies were selected through 1,063 country-based listings. The meta-analysis method, company scoring approach, and ranking criteria are explained in detail in the report. The Country-Based Lists present sector leaders in each country, while the Industry Leaders section brings companies together by sector on a global scale.
01
Introduction and Key Findings
The Introduction section of the Happiest Workplaces Around the Globe 2026 report presents the study’s key findings and its conceptual framework for employee happiness. The findings show that a human-centered employee experience has become a strategic differentiator beyond compensation, leadership development and continuous learning ecosystems have grown stronger, well-being has become a core element of work design rather than an employee benefit, and emotional connection plays a decisive role in employee retention. Under Understanding Employee Happiness, happiness is examined through how employees feel during work, with meaning, achievement, recognition, trust, and belonging highlighted as the core components of sustainable employee happiness.
